The Hot Rock

Couple recent viewings. Bout to get nuts here with the SXSW stuff.

WALKMEN from Stubb's, recorded on iPhone. Live much more resonant, but the idea:

Jane the Brotherhood

Feels like fall in Austin TX. Dead trees and chilly breezes in the morning, blue sky afternoons. Had the neighbors over for porch beers on Saturday. Jane and dad ate too much pimiento cheese.

Highlights from Hill Country road trip, some weeks back, grandpa and grandma visit.

Valentine's cards, Jane made one of these and it's a rendering of her parents. Pretty high concept. As Tiny pointed out, she's in her Blue Period.

Company picnic, all these guys have hair on their faces.

Jane, abandoned and left for the dogs.

Taco Thursdays.

Dad's new jams.

This is what greets me when I come home from work.

Walkmen from Friday. Good set, horns, bad dialogue, lots of tallboys.

The last of the superbowl ham.

On the way to kite day, evidence of life.

More evidence of another sort - this is the Chevron where I buy beer. Steppin' it up baby.

This is the year of my 20th HS reunion.

Big Girl Room Upgrade

We moved Jane out of the crib months ago,
but actually getting the room together took awhile.

Mom slept in that bed as a little "big girl".
We bought the bedspread in Mexico
before Jane was born and the ruffly curtain
is a shower curtain from Anthropologie.
The desk in the far corner was also Mom's as a girl.
I love that she has some of the same furniture I had.
Giant bulletin board came from when Mom worked
at Seventeen. Fun striped pillow case came from Coco.
Since Jane adopted turquoise as her favorite color,
this radical departure from the old
red/white/black scheme has worked out great!

We're considerably more girly now too, as evidenced
from the previous post on tutus. xo Winz

Tell me the one about Blue Wolf and the Buffalo eaters

Standing O for Mr. Rooney. For all you Bombers and Bandits out there, keep drilling.

It's been a week. Mom's a little under the weather, Janebug has a cold. Dad is expanding in bad places. No chance to avenge myself from last week's five consecutive turnover performance at the C.H.S. gym. Game canceled this week on account of revolution being in the air and Coach P being MIA.

On a super positive, Lissy and Mike visited. AKA Jane's big friends. Videos being cut and calibrated, but we do have snaps below.

Kicking things off, foodstuffs from the Superbowl party hosted by C. Newman and Kristina. Charles crushed the Edwards ham, I made Brunswick Stew. Which nobody had ever heard of. Wholefoods was not carrying coon OR squirrel last week, so this a chicken version.

My favorite shot of the new year. That's the dream pairing of Revolta with Coach Mike Ditka. A state treasure, this mural. $10 to whomever can ID the lower right accordian player.

Jane, post-thaw, JC Penny catalogue shoot practice.

We had the wagon out on Saturday. The wheels literally fell off Sunday.

Porch songs with Mike and Lissy.

Saturday night was preschool PROM. Wow.

We had to cut that dress off her.

For the rockers, heavy rotation vids from Camp Drake. This first one, a total slammer, thank Chauncey. These guys will be at SXSW.

From the Plow, the soundtrack to our housecleaning. Mighty Black Taj.

The Pipes are Calling (they want their integrity back)

McKennas victim of total TX freeze out, three days / nights of sub 22 cold, pipes froze, no hot water, dishes piling up, total triage. Bathing bug from tea kettle, dad doing pits with baby wipes. Thaw came late Friday, with some lingering effects. Good thing the DVR didn't quit us, good footie over the weekend.

Then it snowed, which was bizarre. Canceled school, pretty much everything. That lasted about three hours, with enough powder to dirty the vehicles.

Of course, 75 on Saturday.

Run of show:
