Lucky 36

Friday was my birthday. But we've been whooping it up all weekend, which is how I like to handle these milestones. Had the Jennings faction over, plus Cousin S and the Brooklyners who were local for the holiday. I may have been over served.

This is what woke me up, the mint squeezebag:

We kind of threw everything out on the kitchen island for eating and the jam hands crew. This was my birthday cake, which was not in the eat me category. Crown splitter, but way remarkable. Lit her up like an old christmas tree.

Jane was participating mightily.

Here she is with Aunt Lee and Adger, who is a very casual dude.

This crew ate a lot of ham:

Parked with the Jake and Adger, eating cell phones and stuff.

Bidding farewells to the McGs.

These guys just got engaged. More reason for the birthday boy to make bad decisions.

Michelle, Mike and Jake (potential boyfriend):

Finally, the pyro:

So the ham was out, and we crushed it. JJ went to work on it, carved it up special. This thing was 2X better on day two. I remain in awe of the meat processing event spectacular.

Crazy Aunts:

Nerds!

The gift exchange. New coat for dad, vintage posters, loot from the wazooo....

The awesome Austins. And the kicking cousins:

Additional Special birthday shout outs to:

- Cousin Christine

- Uncle Ron

- And, #4 all time blog reader TEG. Good catching up.

T-Day, Weekend Post Part I

Wow. Both sets of grandparents came up for the Pilgrim holiday. Major comedy, major baby pass around. First big holiday in the firehouse. Almost too much to report. Pulled a 9AM to 9PM kitchen duty, totally worth it.

Lounging with the chooch:

Put the dads to work soon after, in the kitchen. Here's Jeff on Ice cream duty, it was incredible - thanks to the Bryce clan / SJ for that insight:

The Janebug's full on thanksgiving outfit, handmade by "C.B.":

Last Xmas, Hunter gave me a ham from Colonel Bill Newsome. It's been hanging from the cieling for almost 11 months now. Covered in mold, cobwebs. Wasn't sure we'd do it up properly, but we hossed it. Followed the careful Lee Bros. direction, with some calls in real time to ensure we didn't f anything up. Here's the processing, this was 24+ hour deal. So excited to pull it off, more thanks to HK for teeing this one up, it was the main event on my birthday (that post to follow).

Mom was dubious.

Pretty tolerant crew. This did take ages.

The turkey was another story altogether. It came from Chinatown, Cantonese style, air-dried bird. Smelled like a plate of General Tso's. Tasted like heaven. My brother gave me a cleaver for xmas couple years ago, another long time couldn't wait to use. Almost comical. More thanks to TB for the hot tip, this thing was genius. We've potentially been cocktailing for hours at this point.

Crap pic, but dinner:

And, serenity.

Missed the junior Beavers, McKennas terribly. Know that we did toast for the out of state homies, with frequency.

Birthday shiz coming.
