The Taking of Buenos Aires, part I

We've been back from Buenos Aires for a week now, still re-assimilating on account of the immediate segue into Thanksgiving.  AKA suitcases only mostly unpacked, airplane peanuts still in pants pockets.

Genius trip, we slipped into Uruguay too, pics under separate cover.

BA is a funny town, architecturally all over the place, busy, equally grubby and spotless. Size-wise, something like NYC. We were told that Portenos dress up, are night owls, generally sophisticated. What we discovered, the rat tail and the Canadian waterfall never went out of style down there. Acid wash uber popular. Loved the discovery. The ladies fare better.

My Spanish was typically useless. We didn't bring enough warm clothes. We stayed in the "funky" part of town and learned we are thoroughbred yuppies. All perfect.

It's a food town, but only by volume. Interest in good food high, execution catching up. Didn't matter much, kid-free and pockets full of funny money soften any expectations of Parisian quality nights out. We triangulated between the Time-Out, NY Times and a Fodors. The latter terrible.

Meanwhile, back in the ATX, Camp KennaCoco in full grind. Thanks again moms.

 All-in, brilliant times, brilliant company.

Stay bizarre, BA.

Hallo-Weaning

October in Texas. We wore long sleeves for 2 days. The Janebug was SUPER into Halloween this year. Ever since the box came down from the attic, "Frank" has been her constant companion...

The daily swing.

Requisite patch pix.

That's Sara & Liz, ACL after-party on the porch.

Fitzhugh Brown turned 3. His mama made him 4 cakes.

Mom reads "Tilly Witch" to Jane's class day.

Deep Eddy nights.

Scenes from the Mc-J family Halloween party.

Devil on prep.

Yard art-directed by Janebug.

"Green & Pink Sparkle Fairy"—her own invention.
The dress is her Fairy Godmother's old dress-up dress,
and with Jane's direction (natch), we added the accessories.

Tea Party of the Damned.

Yep, I monogrammed my pumpkin.

This little pumpkin is officially weaned and ready for Camp KennaCoco.
