M A R F A

The girls and I went to West TX this weekend. Just back and beat. Great trip, it's about nine hours out to Marfa in the car, we made it to Marathon night one, hit Fort Davis and the observatory day two, days three and four in Marfa proper.

If you've been, you know the drill. We hit everything you told us to.

If you haven't, it's worth a junket.

Jane was great in the car, not so great out of the car. But she saw snakes and cows and javelinas. And aliens. And slept in tight quarters with mom and dad. Also a never again.

Night one, Marathon Motel and RV Park:

Day two - the Gage Hotel, observatory, rattlers.

And the main event. Pretty idyllic. Dad had his birthday, we got babysitting, managed to offend the only bartender in town.

Bye birthday beard. Tragedy strikes tomorrow.

War whoops for the McKennas of Boston, hot news on the wire.............!

Double Gobble

Been remiss. Busy. Stuff got broken. 45 buying. 45 degree temp swings. Brining.

New digs at work, more of this to follow, proper, but a peek at the immediate future.

Took the wife to see the Canadians on date evening. Saddest thing, this band is maybe last tour ever, kids seem to be on to more american idiot stuff. Started on even ballot with the Arcade Fire thing, Shins, made a better record, hoofed. Anyways, not for lack of caterwauling. Bryce man, skinny is emphatically a rock hero, yelly needs to cut band #2, #3.

On a more positive note, more stuff no one gives a rat's ass about! Kurt Vile of Philly, USA. Welcome to Austin. TX, 1:21 AM.

T-day swoon-beaming with Handsome Beck Willy Lord Longhorn. AEB III looking particularly hug worthy. JWM I in full "we have a guest room shitpants" revue. Missing, Newman, who does able a blouse with fashion urgency. What a couple of hotpants.

The Thomas Keller ass-hand and nine stepper. Beav on ice cream and shortbread sandwich stuffing. Hello, size 33.

Off to MARFA tomorrow, dawn cracker. Will send genius / tragedy / retread from road.

To all a goodnight. We miss your action. Special puckers - McKennas of SF, Beavers on Queens Road, Those Jennings, Fitches, dear Brooklyners, Greenpointers, fathers, daughters, sons and Edwards.

Coda: the new Kanye? Are you ready for artist of the decade? Clear your inboxes!

Golden Error,

A

Emperor Penguin and the ex-Falconer

SLAMMERS!

McCarthys in the house last week. Dad was eunuch'd with work, but rallied for evening gullet stuffing - including a jaunt to the Gypsy (read: yuppie hippie) picnic. Among other stunning cultural intercepts. Jane absolutely enamored with our house guests.

Fun Fun FUN FEST SUNDAY. Holding Steady:

Suicidal Tendencies.

Mighty Deerhunter.

Best Coast.

POLVO!

We are having a Coco visit, evidence of commerce to follow.

Space Menace / Brownie Vacuum

Happy Halloween everybody. Ours lasted like 6 days. Hats off to the Bryces and McKennas of SF for smashing ensemble pieces. We did not achieve that here, but enthusiasm was high in most departments. Jane soldiered to many an event, figuring out the ritual eventually, culminating in massive sugar sweats, fits, ju-ju lips, brownie nails. The crash was worth the late evening suffering. I think her costume already made the rounds, so I'll just pepper in some action / post action shots for the LI crew.

Some announcements - we went big girl bed.

Anticipating the next holiday.

Some weird thing I walked into. Lots of chanting, pointing, direction giving.

Friday morning. One of my worst looks ever.

Winz really went for it, this was trans-tastic for me.

Porch was full monty.

Candids from the Brown Halloween brownie shuffle: Hobby, Henry, Xander.

The last house we hit, Jane had run out of dum dums by this point, quit on us.

But was soon back in action, total sugar kick in, 1000% increase in volume, animation, lyric bungling.

Good times. Be sure to roll over to the INCUBATOR for some tiny tuxedo action.

War Whoops and Stork Report

The McKennas are multiplying, congratulations and welcomes to the Baby Shea! You can pop over to the link somewhere there on the right for pics and data. What a looker. I've already phoned with Swaddle re-pointers.

Jane has recited a song to celebrate. Well, she was moved to sing rather. Lot of that happening around these parts, these days.

Happy Halloween. Happy Days in general.
