Best of 2011: the player's club edition

KLAMBAKE annual discussion of white music and general un-mansmenship ** 2011 **

Mary Christmas Nibblers!

Hope this finds everyone anklets deep it fat-assery and packing peanuts.

Talking tunes. We've gone full whimper in Texas. Dad's one attempt at macho, the BRONCO, is bone white with beige interior. I tried to get a hard on for Slayer and gut that hell ride out live, but folded like an Armbrecht. I did, however, listen to Raising Hell start to finish. I still paid $35 to see Mudhoney. Points for playing, counselor.
And then the Nutcracker was the most played disc at camp McKenna.

Volume of new purchased way down, old and used way up - discretionary income going straight to the gas tank.
Continue to resist the dots and bleeps, anything too French and the Beyonces. In order.

1. KURT VILE "Smoke Ring for my Halo"

Anyone singing about taking naps and getting faded is going to win this contest.

2. DESTROYER "Kaputt"

Chablis and Dexatrim.

3. REAL ESTATE "Days"

I like this band, goes good with leftovers and week nights.

4. WHITE DENIM "D"

Two words: tiny bassist.

5. FUTURE ISLANDS "On the Water"

This shouldn't be good.

6. HARLEM "Hippies"

Totally came out in 2010, just made it to TX.

7. PAPERCUTS "Fading Parade"

Again, "Fading" - automatic inclusion.

8. YOUTH LAGOON
"The Year of Hibernation".

I once had to dive into a lagoon, as a youth, to escape a beating from some oregano dealers in North Myrtle beach. True story. Automatic inclusion.

9. OBITS "Moody, Standard and Poor"

Shorab borrowed my twin reverb for the Red 7 show - automatic inclusion.

10. URGE OVERKILL "Rock and Roll Submarine"

Yes it's pretty terrible, but it's UO. Automatic inclusion.

Did not buy: Atlas Sound, Gourds, Jeff the Brotherhood, Jicks, Cass, Liturgy, Smog, etc.

We Have Our Foursome

The McKennas are at McKenna headquarters, Deep Eddy division. The nurses had had enough drinking and cussing apparently, courtesy of dad. Both illegal in Travis Co., so we're told.

Mary Austin's inaugural ride, in the 350 HP Santa Cruiser. Also, not AMA certified.

She was immediately deposited, second child-style.

On another front, Jane has conveyed to Santa the importance of balls and tiaras this Christmas.

First meal in four days to include veg-atals and non-reconstituted proteins.

We are Christmas Island again.

Ginger bread house project - epic through all phases.

First foray into the field.

Pirates and princesses.

Pooping.

Rouladen!

Transference.

4AM, pooping.

The Jane parade.

We caved and obtained the SHE & HIM Christmas record. It's no Kenny and Dolly, but worth a gander.

Merry all of it everyone. And thank you baby Jesus.

Intro: MARY AUSTIN MCKENNA | The Doubleth Daughter

Welcome Mary Austin, born 3:50 PM in Texas.

Dec. 14th / year of our lord '11.

In a hospital with ten names and twice that in parking lots.

7 Pounds, 5 oz. 19" long, chesty over leggy.

Future Tarheel:

As this is being written, MA is 28 hours old. She's quite healthy, covered in angel kisses and swaddling gear.

They finally let me wear scrubs. Very Flaming Lips in retrospect. I did not have the ear of the nurses.

Moments after all the action.

Jane's viewing - she was quite enamored and all lady with her new sister. Until she discovered the Jello.

Coco & Mo, running interference.

I figured I hadn't lost it in three year. I have.

As we sign off for tonight, the little fighter in repose.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. We can't wait for all of it.

4MPG | R2D2

Picking up my neglected survey from weeks back. After tabulation, two tunes advancing to the knock out round - one representing the only vote (Emaline) and another an editor fave. Fishing. C'mon Tapei! Round two, NC's finest:

1) "Change with the Changing Times" - DBs

2) "Solitary Set" - POLVO

3) "It's Jaded" - William Christ Supercar

4) "Fred's Farm" - Soda Can

5) "Bad Machinery" - Let's Active

6) "We're Straight" - Copely Grey

More pics from the T-day wrap up. The girls made these, creative director, Winz Beav. Jane demolished one on command. Dad couldn't get past the candy corn.

Some kids go to the children's museum, or Chuckie Cheese. Our kid gets tanks.

After meal after melt down.

JB KP duty.

Craft fair.

Deep Eddy Caberet, #39.

Loading up the Bronco for a day on the river.

38 degrees, 35 mph winds.

From this weekend, airstream send off, Red Bluff studios.

Thank you Laura Naylor.

AND, enter the angel.

Happy Birthday Kristina. Happy Birthday Cornazter.
