Lists, Wrists, & Crawling with No Assist

Happy new year. Jane was captured by pirates yesterday, bathed in dubloons, and released on her own cognizance with fancy ideas about frigates and kinderpants. She told me all about it this morning, somewhere between throwing up herself and eating mom's cell phone. This is how we've been rolling, whilst on break.

She crawled on new year's day, we have witnesses. Here's the shock and horror:

That shirt is an Ambriel Floyd original. Probably the catalyst. She's also learned how to pull herself up in her crib. Figure by the time I get home from work tomorrow, she'll be eating cheeseburgers and smoking Marlboros.

Me and the kids have been swapping our annual year end lists. Pretty rich banter, lots of hot tips. Figured I'd unload my annotations here, for the illegal downloaders.

Top ten songs from 88 India, as tabulated by playcounts. Shockingly white, pure pitchfork.

1. "Angels" Black Mountain, 30
2. "Shame" Avett Brothers, 28
3. "Men and Their Ideas" Oxford Collapse, 27
4. "House of Lies" Broken West, 26
5. "Cold Son" Stephen Malkmus, 24
6. "Right Hand on My Heart" Whigs, 24
7. "Torn Blue Foam Couch" Grand Archives, 23
8. "Electric Feel" MGMT, 22
9. "Ripped Knees" No Age, 21
10. "Drop Out" Times New Viking, 20

We did like that Katy Perry song too, and "Love Lockdown" is pretty groovy.

Best stuff we rented on Netflix:

1. Dial M for Murder
2. Tropic Thunder
3. Freaks and Geeks (series)
4. To Catch a Thief
5. Michael Clayton
6. There Will Be Blood
7. We Jam Econo
8. Vanishing Point
9. Adventures of Baron Munchausen
10. The Towering Inferno

We saw two movies in the theater this year. F.

Grandpa / Grandma McKenna blew in on our return from Charlotte for baby whispering, present swapping, chicken.

Claudia gave the fatty crab a new bathtub for xmas. She loves it, makes more mess than it resolves, but means she's now out of the sink.

Jane, Christmas card outtakes - Jawa and the Crazy Lady from Hollywood Squares:

Franklin Mint series.

HH and Ambriel made / hosted the New Year's Day traditional dinner. Crushed it. Two shoulders, all the trimmings.

Naked time with Fur Coat. Call child services.

Finally, checked out the new Beck residence, in progress. Should be epic.

Mom is currently suffering from a double case of tendinitis, we got ice, wrist guards, therapy in the mix. Brown clowns still pretty cute though.

For a shit year, not bad. Many healthy returns to all (401K plan yield included).

xo

I think I told you that apparently I crawled months longer than expected (before walking) because I was fire on knees. Todd walking couldn't keep up with me - not even close. So keep an eye on that hot termite!
Loved "Michael Clayton", too, but wondering about "There will be blood." Haven't seen it yet. Slow? Or really good? Have been dying to see it for months.
Even if you're not a Batman fan, I recommend "The Dark Knight" if you haven't seen it. (I didn't really like any of the Batman movies until Batman Begins).
Would love to hear where you're spending time in London, as my assignments for MSU study abroad were largely in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Keep in touch!
